Maps hub

Every filtered map view of the West Loop in one index. The live views are the main business map, garages catalog, and transit map; planned views cover permits, recent openings, and the things-to-do filter. All built on the same MapLibre + OpenFreeMap infrastructure with OpenStreetMap data underneath.

Live maps

• Interactive map — all businesses Every active business in the West Loop plotted, color-coded by friendly category. Filter chips above the map narrow by category; click any pin for business detail.
• Garages catalog map 87 unique commercial parking garages in the West Loop, plotted on MapLibre with operator, address, hours, and height clearance where published.
• Transit map CTA L stations and lines covering the West Loop, with bus routes and Metra terminals. Click any station for nearby-businesses + ridership detail.

Planned

• Construction permits map Planned Map view of active building permits in West Loop ZIP codes, drawn live from the Chicago Data Portal Permits dataset. Currently a wayfinder; a live-permits feed is a planned follow-up.
• Recent-openings heatmap Planned A map filtered to businesses licensed in the last 90 days — a soft "what's new" visual surface. Not built yet; it needs the first-seen tracker before the dates would mean anything.
• Things-to-do map Planned A filtered map view of the entertainment and active-recreation categories, with toggles for museums, distillery tours and active recreation. Not built yet.
