The West Loop is made up of several named sub-areas — dining corridors, historic districts, and informal neighborhoods within the broader neighborhood. Each has its own identity and history. Below is a guide to all five.
- Randolph Restaurant Row W Randolph Street from Halsted Street to Ogden Avenue Randolph Restaurant Row runs along West Randolph Street from roughly Halsted to Ogden in the heart of the West Loop.
- Fulton Market District W Fulton Market between Halsted Street and Ogden Avenue (with surrounding blocks) Fulton Market is the city-designated landmark district within the West Loop, centered on West Fulton Market Street between Halsted and Ogden.
- Greektown S Halsted Street between Madison Street and Van Buren Street Greektown is the long-running Greek-American restaurant corridor along South Halsted Street, just south of the heart of the West Loop.
- West Loop Gate Roughly bounded by the Chicago River (east), Halsted Street (west), Lake Street (north), Madison Street (south) West Loop Gate is the historic name for the eastern edge of the West Loop neighborhood, around Halsted Street, Madison Street, and the river-crossing into the Loop business district.
- Madison Row W Madison Street from the Chicago River west to Ashland Avenue Madison Row is the informal name for the West Madison Street corridor running through the heart of the West Loop.
