Best happy hour in the West Loop, Chicago
The West Loop has far more happy hour than any one list usually admits. Below are 56 bars and restaurants that publish one — days, times and prices taken from each operator’s own website or menu, never from a review site or a roundup. They run from 2:30 PM aperitivo through 6–8 PM cocktail-lounge windows, and a handful start again after 9 PM. Every pick links to its full business page.
Every published happy hour, compared
Sorted by earliest start. Days, times and prices were read from each operator’s own site or menu — where a cell says “Not published,” the operator states the window but not the deal. Prices exclude the service charges and surcharges several of these add.

All 56 rows were read from each operator’s own website, menu, PDF or image card on 2026-08-08 — never from review sites or happy-hour roundups, which we found wrong or stale on nine of the venues we cross-checked. “Not published” means the operator states a window but not the deal. Happy hours change without notice and several operators contradict themselves across their own pages; where that happens the narrower window is shown. Confirm before a special trip.

Frequently asked questions
- What time does happy hour start in the West Loop?
- Most run 4–6 PM on weekdays, but the range is much wider than that. Monteverde starts earliest at 2:30 PM with its Aperitivo Hour, and BLVD opens its weekend window at 2 PM. Around a dozen places start at 3 PM. At the other end, Caché 310 does not begin until 6 PM and runs to 8 PM.
- Which West Loop happy hour has the cheapest oysters?
- Ithaki Estiatorio at $1 each, with a three-piece minimum, is the cheapest published. Bocaditos also drops to $1 on Wednesdays with a six minimum. Next up are Guinness Open Gate Brewery, Formento’s and BLVD at $1.50, then a cluster at $2 including The Publican, The Press Room, The Vig, Bar La Rue, Cruz Blanca and Swift & Sons.
- Which West Loop happy hours run on weekends?
- Most stop at Friday. Boqueria is the only one here that runs both weekend days, Sat–Sun 4–6 PM. BLVD runs Sat–Sun from 2 PM. El Che, Fioretta, Formento’s and The Bandit run every day. Trino runs Tue–Sun, The Allis Mon–Sat, and Yokocho Tue–Sat. Bar La Rue runs Sunday through Friday but not Saturday.
- Are there late-night or reverse happy hours in the West Loop?
- Yes, though they are rare. Bocaditos runs a second window 8:30–9:30 PM Sun–Thu. The Bandit runs a late-night happy hour Friday and Saturday after 9 PM. New Line Tavern runs a reverse happy hour Saturday 9 PM to midnight. Bar La Rue’s Perfect 10 menu offers $10 specials after 10 PM Thu–Sat, and La Josie’s Tardeadas menu runs Sundays from 4 PM and Mondays from 6 PM until close.
- Do West Loop happy hours still run on United Center event nights?
- Not everywhere. Ranalli’s West Loop states plainly that happy hour is not valid during United Center events, and Kaiser Tiger says its specials are suspended during peak hours and special events. Recess suspends its happy hour during World Cup matches. If you are heading to a game or a concert, check the venue first rather than assuming.
- Which West Loop happy hours are only at the bar?
- Several restrict the deal to bar seating: El Che, Leña Brava, Fioretta, Ithaki and The Oakville Grill & Cellar are bar-only, and Oakville adds that it is first come, first served. Formento’s covers the bar and patio but is dine-in only. Nobu’s Tanoshi Hour runs on the rooftop only, not in the ground-floor restaurant. Beatrix, Canal Street Eatery, Spectrum and The Bandit are dine-in only.
- Where can I take a large group for happy hour in the West Loop?
- Punch Bowl Social books party packages for 9 to 16 guests online and adds 50% off games during happy hour. Beyond that, check the service-charge rules before you gather a crowd: Bar La Rue and The Bandit add an 18% service charge to parties of six or more, and Leña Brava adds 20% to parties of five or more. Oakville’s bar-area happy hour is first come, first served, which makes it hard to hold space for a group.
- Which happy hours have a patio in the West Loop?
- Costera runs its happy hour at the bar and on the patio, and Formento’s covers the bar and patio. BLVD’s weekend window and Nobu’s rooftop Tanoshi Hour are both outdoor-leaning in season. Elsewhere, happy-hour pricing usually applies at the bar specifically even when a patio exists — avec River North, for example, restricts its deal to the bar and patio while the West Loop location does not.
- Why do some West Loop happy hours have a different name?
- Several operators brand the window as something other than happy hour, which is why they rarely turn up in a search. Guinness calls it Neighborhood Hour, Ramen-San calls it Lucky Hour, Monteverde calls it Aperitivo Hour, Swift & Sons calls it Whiskey Hour, Fioretta calls it Cocktail Hour, and Nobu calls it Tanoshi Hour. Each is listed here under the operator’s own name.
- How current are the times and prices on this page?
- Every day, time and price here was read from the operator’s own website or menu on 8 August 2026 — not from review sites or happy-hour roundups, which we found to be wrong or stale on nine of the venues we cross-checked. Happy hours change without notice, and several operators contradict themselves across their own pages, so treat this as a starting point and confirm before a special trip.
Every venue on this page was re-verified against its own published pages (website or official social accounts) on 2026-08-08 — days, times, and prices reflect what each venue publishes.
