Corrections log

Two kinds of corrections live here. First: businesses verified as permanently closed — those pages stay live as a quiet archive but are removed from the directory, map, and sitemap. Second: stale OpenStreetMap records discovered during enrichment, queued for upstream edits so the correction propagates beyond this site. Each entry shows the date it was logged and the source that confirmed it.

A business is marked closed only when a public source confirms it. The page stays live with a permanently-closed notice citing the source; the listing is removed from the directory, map, category pages, and sitemap.

  Grace was a three-Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurant at 652 W Randolph from Chef Curtis Duffy and partner Michael Muser. Closed December 2017. The space subsequently became Yūgen (2018–2021) and now hosts SuSu.

  Bad Hunter was a vegetable-forward New American restaurant from Heisler Hospitality (Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner) at 802 W Randolph. Closed permanently in June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after less than four years in operation.

  Boston Blackie's burger-and-bar concept at 1014 W Madison is closed. The chain's other Chicago locations (120 S Riverside Plaza, 164 E Grand, 1962 N Halsted) are also marked closed; only the suburban Deerfield location remains operating as of 2026.

  The Chicken & Farm Shop at Soho House Chicago — originally opened as 'Chicken Shop' and renamed — served rotisserie chicken sourced from Pine Manor Farm. Open to the public despite sitting inside the members-only Soho House property. Now closed.

  Jinsei Motto co-founder Soulivanh Bouaphanh operated this sushi restaurant at 1110 W Lake (and out of CH Distillery at 564 W Randolph); both West Loop locations closed in 2024. A new Jinsei Motto is opening in Logan Square at 2456 N California, outside the West Loop.

  Palace Grill at 1408 W Madison, an 80-year-old West Side diner near the United Center, closed after a fire on February 8, 2024; the owner has confirmed it will not reopen and the building is for sale.

  RM Champagne Salon, a champagne bar with an alley-entry French-bistro character at 116 N Green, is permanently closed per OpenTable and Yelp.

  Blackbird was Paul Kahan and Donnie Madia's One Off Hospitality restaurant at 619 W Randolph, opened 1997 and widely credited (with Avec next door) for launching the Randolph Restaurant Row era. Closed permanently June 2020.

  Amazon Go cashierless convenience store at Ogilvie Transportation Center (500 W Madison), opened November 2018, closed late January 2026 along with all four Chicago Amazon Go locations as Amazon refocused on Whole Foods and grocery delivery.

Stale OSM records discovered while curating business enrichments — typically a website domain that's changed, a phone number that's wrong, or a closed business still tagged as active. Edits are queued internally and submitted upstream to OpenStreetMap in batches so the correction helps every site that uses OSM, not just this one. When an edit is applied upstream, its status flips from "queued" to "applied" with the application date.

• Zeus Restaurant queued discovered 2026-05-16

  name: ZEUS GYROS INC (City legal name) → Zeus Restaurant or Zeus

  City license is filed as the corporate legal name 'ZEUS GYROS INC'; the customer-facing brand on third-party sources (Greektown Chamber listing) is just 'Zeus' or 'Zeus Restaurant'. The restaurant's own domain zeusgyros.com has an expired SSL certificate — could not fetch their own site directly.

Why this page exists

Two reasons. First, transparency: a citation-based site should make its own error history visible, not just its claims. Second, OSM contribution: surfacing the OSM-edit queue publicly creates a small accountability mechanism for actually filing the upstream edits rather than letting the queue grow indefinitely.
