The 9 routes below are the ones with a stable, named relationship to the neighborhood — the north-south spines on Halsted and Ashland, the east-west corridors on Madison, Grand, Jackson, and Harrison, plus the United Center express on game days.
Primary West Loop routes
- #8 Halsted N-S
Halsted Street
The neighborhood's primary north-south spine. Runs through Greektown, past Skinner Park, north through the Fulton Market District, and on to Lincoln Park and beyond.

Ashland Avenue
North-south route along the West Loop's western edge. Connects to Wrigleyville to the north and the Stevenson and 95th Street to the south.

Ashland Avenue
Express version of the 9 — fewer stops, faster headways during weekday commute hours. Stops at the Ashland Green/Pink station.
- #20 Madison E-W
Madison Street
East-west across Madison Street — the West Loop's central corridor. Connects directly into the Loop and out to Austin and Oak Park.

Grand Avenue
East-west along Grand Avenue, the northern boundary of the West Loop. Service through the Fulton Market District toward Streeterville and Navy Pier.

Limited-service express on Madison Street operating on Bulls and Blackhawks game days and major United Center events. Runs between the Loop and the United Center.

Several other CTA bus routes touch the West Loop on their way to or from the Loop, but their stops in the neighborhood are limited.
