Schools

Young Magnet High School is the selective-enrollment high school in the neighborhood. The schools page lists CPS schools serving the area with Illinois Report Card deep links.
Childcare and daycare
Eleven licensed childcare facilities operate in the West Loop, including chain providers (Bright Horizons, BrightPath, Mathnasium for school-age tutoring) and small independent preschools. The childcare comparison page lays out each with capacity, hours, and license details.
Parks and playgrounds
Mary Bartelme Park at 115 S Sangamon has the neighborhood's standout enclosed children's playground with the well-known stainless-steel mist arches. Skinner Park has fields for organized youth sports. Heritage Green Park is the quietest of the three. The parks page has details on each, including amenities and Chicago Park District links.

Things to do with kids
Chicago Children's Theatre on South Racine is the marquee family destination — year-round productions explicitly aimed at children. WNDR Museum runs interactive light, sound, and digital-art installations that work for school-age kids and up. Bad Axe Throwing and Puttery are for older kids and teens (check each operator's minimum age). The Things to do hub has the broader list, and the Active & unusual page covers most of the non-food family options.
Family-friendly dining
Lou Mitchell's on Jackson (since 1923, kid-friendly classic), The Original Pancake House on Washington, and Yolk on Madison cover the breakfast / brunch end. The Brunch list has the full neighborhood set. For dinner, most West Loop restaurants seat children during daytime hours; tasting-menu rooms generally do not.
Getting around with kids
The neighborhood is dense enough that most family trips don't need a car — Mary Bartelme to the library, Skinner West to Skinner Park, daycare to home are all walkable from most West Loop addresses. The interactive map plots everything by address. For longer trips, the Green/Pink Lines and Metra at Ogilvie and Union Station are all stroller-accessible.
