McDonald’s nine-story global headquarters at 110 N Carpenter, opened June 2018 and developed by Sterling Bay. Houses Hamburger University, McDonald’s global training center founded in 1961 in Elk Grove Village. The 490,000-square-foot building features simulation labs with replica restaurant setups, a 300-seat auditorium, an innovation kitchen for menu development, and a rotating international-menu test area. The main Chicago campus is one of nine Hamburger University locations worldwide (alongside Tokyo, London, Sydney, Munich, São Paulo, Shanghai, and Moscow).
